The Resurrection of Believers

The Resurrection of Believers

Section 9: The End Times

Week 2: The Resurrection

Day 1: The Resurrection of Believers

1 Cor. 15:12-34

As we’ve seen, God intends to bring all things together under Christ (Eph. 1:10). The resurrection of believers is a necessary part of that plan. The Bible pictures death as an enemy. If death continued to have power over believers, then Christ’s rule would not extend to all things. Death would be the one thing he could not fully defeat. But we know that isn’t the case. As Paul says,

For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death” (1 Cor. 15:22-26).

Challenge:

Read Eph. 1:1-14 and 1 Cor. 15:12-34.

Reflection Questions:

How does the resurrection of believers fit into God’s plan to bring all things together under Christ? Could he accomplish that without the resurrection? Would our faith be futile without the resurrection? Why/Why not?
